1. Structure
The Dyson V6’s stick line of cleaners and the Shark IONFlex have the basic same structure.
We wouldn’t go as far as saying they look alike because there are some obvious differences, like the fact that the Shark IONFlex is slightly larger than the Dyson V6.
However, there are similarities in the way they both are structured. Basically, there they are kinda divided into the head, the body, which is the vacuum wand, and then the cleaning tool(s).
Furthermore, with both cleaners the motor is located in the head. This is the reason that both cleaners are top heavy and so cannot stand without some form of assistance.
Now to be more specific, both the Dyson V6 and the Shark IONFlex have the same components in their heads.
These include a dustbin, a motor (which we’ve already talked about), a handle, a couple of operation buttons and a protruding connection point.
2. 2-In-1
The Dyson V6 comes in 2 lines of vacuum cleaners. However, for the 2-in-1 feature, we’ll be looking at the stick line because those are the cleaners that are 2-in-1 cleaners.
Now what do we mean by a vacuum cleaner is 2-in-1? It basically means that the cleaner can serve as 2 types of cleaners, not necessarily simultaneously, though.
Having known that, both the cleaners in this review can serve as either a stick cleaner or a handheld cleaner. And it is pretty easy to make the switch too.
Here’s what you need to do. If you need the cleaner to be a stick cleaner, you’ll need to attach the vacuum stick to the connection point and then attach whatever cleaning head you prefer to the vacuum stick.
However, if what you’re going for is a handheld cleaner, you’ll need to do without the vacuum stick and just attach the appropriate cleaning tool directly to the connection point.
3. The Dustbin
All the models of both the Dyson V6 and the Shark IONFlex come with a dustbin instead of the more traditional trash bags. This makes for a more portable and convenient means of collecting and disposing of waste.
Furthermore, both these cleaners have a feature that purifies the air of allergens. How does this relate to the bin?
Well, when both cleaners collect the allergens in the air, they trap the allergens in the bin so that they do not escape.
Now, this feature is referred to as the HEPA filtration on the Dyson V6. Furthermore, it comes with only the Mattress model of the handheld line and only comes with Absolute model in the stick line.
On the other hand, the allergen filtration feature is referred to as the Anti-Allergen Complete Seal on the Shark IONFlex.
This feature also does not come with all the models of the Shark IONFlex but you’ll definitely get it with the IF251.
Now about capacity, both cleaners do not have very large bins. However, with a 0.4 liter capacity, the Dyson V6 has more capacity than the Shark IONFlex which offers 0.3 liter.
4. Cordless
It is definitely important to mention that whatever the model, both the Dyson V6 and the Shark IONFlex are cordless.
This is possible because both cleaners are rechargeable and come with their own chargers.
So, there’s no need for the cleaner to be plugged in before it can be in use. This already makes both cleaners more portable (that is, added to the fact that they are not exactly heavy).
You can basically just move your cleaner from room to room without bothering about length of cord or whether the next room has a wall socket or not.

Like basically every vacuum cleaner, the Dyson V6 and the Shark IONFlex come with tools designed to be used in cleaning floors.
These tools are motorized which means they make use of the power from that motor in the head.
This also means that engaging these tools could reduce the run time available to you.
Now, the Dyson V6 comes with 2 basic tools for cleaning floors; one is the direct drive cleaner head and the other is the soft roller cleaner head.
The direct drive cleaner head has stiff brush rolls and is typically used on carpets for this reason. The stiff brush rolls are able to dig into carpets and dislodge the dirt buried in them.
This tool is available with all the cleaners in the stick line and none of the cleaners in the handheld line.
However, the direct drive cleaner head isn’t exactly known for its excellent performance with large debris.
This is the reason Dyson decided to come up with the soft roller cleaner head.
This tool is typically used on bare or hardwood floors and can take care of the large debris. However, this tool only comes with the Absolute model of the V6.
On the other hand, the Shark IONFlex comes with only 1 major floor cleaning tool. This tool is referred to as DuoClean Technology and here is the reason.
Those 2 tools that the Dyson V6 comes with are combined into 1 with the Shark IONFlex.
So, in that 1 tool, you have 2 different brush rolls. One is the soft brush roll for hardwood floors and the other is the stiff brush roll for carpets. Also, this tool comes with all the Shark IONFlex models.
Crevice Tool
The name of this tool practically explains what it is about. So, the crevice tool is used for cleaning inside corners and crevices.
Furthermore, the crevice tool comes as a nozzle with the Dyson V6. The nozzle is kinda streamlined at the moth so that it can properly penetrate into those hard to reach places.
However, on the Shark IONFlex, the crevice tool comes as a brush. The brush is slim and the bristles are somewhat stiff for the job it is meant for.
We should point out that this tool is not a motorized tool and so will not reduce the run time you get. Also, this tool comes with all the models of both cleaners.
Dusting Brush
This one is a slightly bigger brush than the Shark IONFlex’s crevice brush, plus, its bristles are softer.
This is basically because the dusting brush is used for sensitive surface dusting like for keyboards and screens.
Now, the dusting brush comes with all the models of the Shark IONFlex. However you do not get this tool with all the models of either the handheld line or the stick line of the V6.

Furthermore, these handheld models usually come with a number of specific tools that you won’t find with their stick counterparts.
Some of these tools include an extension hose that comes with the Car + Boat model for reaching corners in the car.
There is also the soft bristle brush that comes with a number of the handheld models.
2. Combination Tool
This one is, as the name implies, a combination of 2 tools: a small nozzle and a small brush.
This tool is used for basically any kind of small scale cleaning and it is not a motorized tool.
Furthermore, this tool does not come with any of the Shark IONFlex models. And as for the Dyson V6, you’ll get the combination tool with all the models of the stick line but none of the models in the handheld line.

Now, for the Shark IONFlex, there is something cool you need to know. When Shark talks about its cleaner wand, it mentions the MultiFlex technology.
This technology allows the Shark IONFlex’s cleaner wand bendable. So, you can basically bend the wand in half. What then does this do for you?
First off, that the cleaner wand is bendable ensures better reach beneath low furniture without having to lift anything.
And that’s not all, bending the wand makes it possible for the cleaner to stand on its own. Here is how it works.
Remember we pointed out that the Shark IONFlex is top heavy (much like the Dyson V6) which makes it impossible for it to stand on its own.
However, bending the wand in half, successfully transfers the weight from the top to the bottom, thereby ensuring the cleaner stands on its own.
This means, if you need to take a quick break as you clean, you can quickly fold it in and leave it where it is instead of looking for something to lean the cleaner against.
4. Storage
Of the Dyson V6 Vs Shark IONFlex, only the Dyson V6 comes with a storage equipment.
When you get the Dyson V6, you also get a docking station which is basically a wall mount.
This docking station has 3 pockets; 1 big pocket for the cleaner and 2 small pockets for other cleaning accessories. This might not be sufficient storage space for all the cleaning tools, though.

First off, the Shark IONFlex makes use of 2 rechargeable batteries that are replaceable.
