Dyson V6 Absolute vs Fluffy – Detailed Comparison

In discussing the Dyson V6 Absolute vs Fluffy, we have to constantly bear in mind that both cleaners are from the same family of cleaners.

Now, by same family, we do not necessarily just refer to the large Dyson family but something more specific. And we’ll explain.

Dyson cleaners are typically released as what we could refer to as series. For instance, Dyson V6 Absolute and the V6 Fluffy are members of the V series.

However, more specific is that number attached to the V. In the V series, we have a total of 4 mini-series: V6, V7, V8, and V10. Each mini-series has a number of different models with the most common ones being the Animal, the Motorhead, and the Absolute.

We’ve done a comparison article on the V6 Animal vs the Motorhead and another on the V6 Absolute vs the Animal. You could check them out.

Anyway, for the V6 (which is our focus in this article) and the V7, there is a further sub-division. Each of the mentioned mini-series carries two distinct lines of cleaners.

One is a line of handheld cleaners including models like the Trigger and the Car + Boat. And the other is a line of stick cleaners (which can actually be transformed to handheld vacuum cleaners) including models like the Absolute and the Fluffy.

Now, why do we want you to bear this in mind? You’ll understand soon enough.

What Are The Common Features Of Dyson V6 Absolute And Dyson V6 Fluffy?

The common features of Dyson V6 Absolute and Dyson Fluffy are:

1. Structure.

2. The head.

3. The dustbin.

4. The battery.

5. The MAX mode button.

6. The docking station.

1. The Structure

What is the structure of Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy?

Dyson V6 Absolute vacuum cleaner comes in a red color. While Dyson V6 Fluffy is blue in color. This differentiate both cleaners since they both look exactl alike.

They both have a streamlined structure that we can divide into the head, the cleaner wand, and the cleaning tools. Without the color coding, it would be almost impossible to distinguish between the two cleaners.

2. The Head

What are the common features of Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy head?

The head on Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy contains features like the handle, the dustbin, and the connection point. The handle allows you to wrap your hand around the cleaner for a firm grip.

The handle is appropriately sized and should fit a decent range of hand sizes for both cleaners. Furthermore, on the inside of the handle is the power button.

The connection point is what you’ll attach the vacuum wand to if you want either of the cleaners to function as a stick cleaner. If you want a handheld, you’ll just attach the appropriate tool directly to the connection point.

Unlike some other cleaners where you’ll just click the power button and the cleaner continues to run, the power button on the Dyson V6 Absolute and the V6 Fluffy requires that you constantly hold it down.

See also  Dyson V6 Vs V8 -- Detailed Comparison

Constantly holding down that button is actually what ensures that the cleaner continues running. And the basic idea behind this is for you to be able to conserve battery power.

However, there’s a little issue with this system. And that is the fact that having to constantly hold down the power button to get the cleaners going could get tiring. Especially if you have fragile fingers or arthritis.

3. The Dustbin

What is the dustbin capacity of Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy?

Dyson V6 Absolute and the Dyson V6 Fluffy have the exact same kind of dustbin. Both dustbins have a carrying capacity of 0.4 liter which isn’t exactly much.
This does not give so much room for the dirt and debris collection. So, you’ll have to make frequent trips to empty the contents of your dustbin.

On the dustbin, you’ll see a point tagged max and that serves to remind you not to surpass that point as the dustbin fills.

Also, disposing of the content in the dustbin is automatic. There is a lever opposite the power button. Pulling that lever up causes the dustbin to open at the bottom, spewing its content.

If you’ve allowed the dirt and debris to surpass the designated maximum point, you might have to disassemble the dustbin to get some stuff that is stuck inside.

And even if you haven’t, you might still need to use your fingers to coax some debris out.

We think the dustbin disposal could have been more sanitary. Thankfully, a solution to this has been provided in newer models. You can start out by checking out this article on the Dyson V7 Animal Vacuum Cleaner.

4. The Battery

What is the total run time for Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy?

The total run time for Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy vacuum cleaners is 20 minutes of power maximum. And this is predicated on you not making use of a motorized tool.
If you decide to make use of a motorized tool, you’re cutting your usage time to about half the original time. While using both cleaner on MAX mode gives you only 6 minutes running time.

We think that 20 minutes of run time might be enough for a quick run or for cleaning a small house. However, if you want to do a more thorough cleaning or you live in a big house, 20 minutes run time might not be sufficient.

Note that both cleaners need to be charged for about 3 hours and 30 minutes before the first use.

5. The Max Mode Button

We already mentioned something about the max mode while discussing the battery. And we pointed out that using either of the cleaners on that mode reduces the run time from 20 minutes to 6 minutes.

The reason this happens is that the MAX mode (which is one of the two modes that both the Absolute and the Fluffy offer) employs more suction power than the standard mode. And the difference is quite significant.

While you get 24 Airwatts of suction on the standard mode, you get 100 Airwatts of suction on the MAX mode. And the difference between 100 Airwatts and 24 Airwatts is enough to determine how quickly and tidily you can get your cleaning done.

There is a button on the back of the head on both cleaners. To switch between modes, push the button.

6. The Docking Station

The basic idea behind this accessory is for you to have a convenient way of storing your cleaner. The docking station is to be fixed to a wall and then your vacuum cleaner hung on it.

The docking station has two ports for the cleaning tools. This means that you’ll have to find a convenient storage space for some of the cleaning tools seeing as the docking station can accommodate only 3 cleaning tools at once (that is, the one connected to the cleaner and the other two in the ports.

We advise that you strategically position the docking station close to an electric socket so that the cleaner can charge in storage.

Note that the Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy come with a charger each.

7. The Cleaning Tools

What are the cleaning tools found in Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy?

The cleaning tools found in Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy are:

1. The combination tool.

2. The crevice tool.

3. The mini motorized tool.

4. The soft dusting brush.

5. The soft roller cleaner head.

Here’s a heads up: The V6 Absolute and the V6 Fluffy come with a good number of similar cleaning tools.

In fact, there’s only one tool that the Absolute comes with that the Fluffy does not. And there’s no tool that the Fluffy comes with that the Absolute doesn’t.

Having stated this, let’s see these common tools.

The Combination Tool

The combination tool consists of two cleaning tools: a small nuzzle and a small brush. This tool is designed in such a way that it is easy to switch between tools. You just have to slide up whatever tool you need at any point in time.

Furthermore, the combination is not a motorized tool. So, using this tool affords you the entire 20 minutes run time.

The Crevice Tool

This is another nuzzle. However, it is more streamlined than what you have on the combination tool.

This is because the crevice tool can easily reach corners, crevices, and hard to reach places generally. The crevice tool is also not a motorized tool.

The Mini Motorized Tool

Let’s start off by pointing out that the name of the tool already suggests that it is a motorized tool. So, bear in mind that using this tool means you’ll be getting about 10 minutes of run time.

Furthermore, the mini motorized tool is specially designed for getting rid of pet hair and human hair in your home. It could also help take care of ground-in dirt.

The Soft Dusting Brush

This is a bigger brush than the one on the combination tool. It is generally used for dusting and especially for certain sensitive surfaces like keyboards and screens.

The bristles are quite soft, so, they do not leave brush marks on surfaces. Also, the soft dusting brush isn’t a motorized tool.

The Soft Roller Cleaner Head

This tool was specifically added because the major cleaner head (which only the Absolute comes with as we’ll soon see) isn’t the best at getting the large debris.

The soft roller cleaner head does the job of attacking the large debris and does it without being a motorized tool.

What Are The Unique Features Of Dyson V6 Absolute And Dyson V6 Fluffy?

The unique features of Dyson V6 Absolute and Fluffy vacuum cleaners are:

1. The direct drive cleaner head.

2. HEPA filtration.

1. The Direct Drive Cleaner Head

This is the main cleaner head and is good for cleaning hardwood floors. But this is not saying that it doesn’t do well enough on floor coverings.

And just so you know, the direct drive cleaner head only comes with the Dyson V6 Absolute and not with the Dyson V6 Fluffy. The direct drive cleaner head’s strength can not vacuum large debris. Thankfully, there is a separate tool that does justice to that.

Also, this tool has 75% more brush bar power than the one on the Dyson V6 Cord-Free cleaner. This means this cleaning tool on the Absolute model does a better job than the one on the Cord-Free model.

2. HEPA Filtration

Another difference between the Absolute and the Fluffy is that the Absolute model comes with the HEPA filtration feature while the Fluffy does not.

The HEPA filtration feature helps the cleaner capture the allergens in the air as it cleans things up and traps these allergens in the bin.

This way, the air the cleaner lets out is, apparently, purer than the air we breathe. This makes the Absolute a better choice for people who have allergies and respiratory problems.

Common Pros — Dyson V6 Absolute Vs Fluffy

Dyson V6 Absolute

Dyson V6 Fluffy

2-In-1 The Dyson V6 Absolute is a 2-in-1 vacuum cleaner in that it can be used as either a stick cleaner or a handheld cleaner.
If you are going for the stick look and function, you’ll attach the vacuum wand to the connection point then attach the appropriate cleaning tool to the attached wand.
However, if you need the cleaner to be a handheld, you’ll need to attach the appropriate cleaning tool directly to the connection point.
Same as the V6 Absolute.
Flexibility This cleaner is designed in such a way that it can conveniently reach beneath a piece of furniture without having to lift it. It bends sufficiently to do this.
Yet, this same cleaner can be made to reach high up to ceilings conveniently.
Same as the V6 Absolute.
Convenience The docking station is what affords the Dyson V6 Absolute the convenience we write about.
As a result of the docking station, you do not need to always disassemble your cleaner to properly store it or even store it in such a way that it takes up too much space.
Hanging it on the station allows for convenient storage.

Common Cons — Dyson V6 Absolute Vs Fluffy

Dyson V6 Absolute

Dyson V6 Fluffy

Battery We really consider 20 minutes insufficient for a thorough cleaning of one’s house. Especially seeing as that run time is only guaranteed if one doesn’t use a motorized tool.
However, we concede that 20 minutes could be sufficient for a not so thorough cleaning. It basically just depends on what you’ll be using the cleaner for.
Same as the V6 Absolute.
Dustbin There are just two things we do not like about the dustbin.
One is that the dustbin can only hold 0.4 liter of dirt and debris at a time. This means one will have to make frequent trips to the trash can.
Two, disposing the content of the bin could get quite unsanitary if some debris remain stuck inside. You’ll have to use your fingers to coax them out or disassemble the dustbin altogether.
Same as the V6 Absolute.

How Do You Adjust Your Dyson Vacuum For Carpet?

  3. Put one foot on both sides of the front corner of your vacuum cleaner while pulling its handle towards you.

Its original position is for cleaning bare floors.

Is Vacuuming Better Than Sweeping?

Vacuuming is better than sweeping. Here’s why:

  1. Vacuuming is faster and less labor intensive.
  2. Vacuum cleaners come with attachments for different types of floor and cleaning techniques.
  3. Vacuum cleaners are less likely to generate dust into the air which can be allergic for some people.
  4. When using a vacuum cleaner, you do not have to always empty dustpans.
  5. Vacuum cleaners with HEPA filtration systems are best for removing debris and dirt.
  6. Vacuum cleaners are easier to move when cleaning rugs and wood floors.
  7. Vacuum cleaners can be used to clean blinds, drapes, and other parts of your home.
  8. Vacuuming can increase the lifespan of hardwood floors.
  9. Vacuum cleaners remove dirt from corners and cracks than sweeping, which packs dirt further in.

Should You Dust Before Or After Vacuuming?

You should dust before you vacuum. This is because allergens, dust, dirt, and other particles are always floating in the air. First, wipe the surface with a microfiber duster or wet cloth. This will help to trap dust in the air.

Afterwards, vacuum your room. This will remove the remaining dust or dirt. If you vacuum before dusting during your cleaning routine, dust particles will remain in the room air. This will later fall back on the surfaces, making your initial cleaning almost futile. So, you would have to repeat the cleaning soonest.

How Do You Fix A Dyson Suction Loss?

To fix a Dyson suction loss, do the following:

  1. Unplug the vacuum cleaner.
  2. Detach the filter from the machine.
  3. Release the filter from the filter frame, if there is one.
  4. Wash the filter under cool water to remove all dirt or debris.
  5. Leave the filter to completely air dry.
  6. Replace the filter of the filter frame and the vacuum cleaner.
  7. Remove the vacuum hose. Lift the release cap on the handle of the wand and pull out the hose.
  8. Detach the wand handle.
  9. Inspect the vacuum hose for any clog. If any, remove with a long brush.
  10. Replace the wand handle to the hose and return the hose to the vacuum cleaner.
  11. Remove the hose at the U-bend and inspect it for clogs.
  12. Remove the clogs with a long brush and replace the hose to the machine.

What Is The Difference Between Dyson Fluffy And Absolute?

The only difference between Dyson Fluffy and Absolute is the absence of a direct drive motor head in the Dyson Fluffy. Apart from this cleaning tool, Dyson Fluffy and Absolute have the same battery life, suction, and other cleaning tools.

The motorized head is dependent on how you are going to use your vacuum cleaner. You do not need the motorized head if you have bare floors such as tile, laminate, vinyl, and hardwood floor. The cleaning tool for the bare floor that comes with the Absolute and Fluffy will do the cleaning.

For commercial or residential carpeting like area rugs, cut and loops, or berbers, you need the motorized head for a thorough cleaning. The soft roller head won’t produce the same result with them.
